I have to give Mr. Hurt credit for at least debating Douglass. However, I wish I could say the same about my challenger Mr. Roy Byrd. I have nothing but respect for you as a public official. However, I feel that you want to win this election because of entitlement and not merit. The point of a debate is to see where we stand on issues as it relates to the town and to give the people a chance to decide on what direction that the Town should go in based off our proposals and policies. Even if I was not running, I would still want to know where all my elected officials stood on pertinent issues that will not only effect their wallet but also the geographical area in which I try to represent. My campaign, as well as independents, have sent Roy Byrd e-mails asking for him to debate and to give us an outlook on the direction that he plans on taking the town. He has played by Mr. Hurt playbook of not debating and hope his name is enough to win this election. This sounds more like entitlement and socialism strategy. Since you do not want to debate, than I will present the questions in this letter to the Editor to you. Where do you stand on Uranium? What do you plan to do to move the Town forward with your proposals? Do you plan to serve the public or serve yourself with the tax revenues raised by taxes that the Town has no clue on what they are paying. How do you feel about eminent domain and the transportation issues that continue to be a issue with the citizens. I stand against Uranium Mining. I do not plan on raising taxes at all next year. I see my colleague has raised or voted for tax increases every year except for a election year. I plan to have a open door policy of government and request a criminal probe to give the Town people answers to what is really going on with their money and why it continues to get lost. I plan to bring businesses to the area and allow them to grow and bring jobs to the area and require them to meet the aesthetics of the Town of Chatham, Va, while working with their neighbors. Perserving history while staying update with the future is my motto. Our area has serious transportation issues and we need to start working on solving it and working with local bus services and more to fix the problem that we continue to avoid in our comprehensive plans. I want to see people be able to get to work and handle much needed services and business. I would like to know where you stand on bridging the gap in cutting taxes and showing fiscal responsibility. If you want to vote for a dodger of public scrutiny than you should vote for Roy Byrd. However, if you want accountability in public office than vote for that change. Roy Byrd, Ill debate you anywhere and at anytime. too bad, I wish you could say the same. We have use email, phone calls, and face book to get you to come before the town. If you scared to face the town now on your proposals than dont be the man to throw your proposals on to the town after you are elected. We do not need another Romnesia co – signer in office. Im tired of your flunkies including Pittsylvania County Sheriff deputy Campbell, Mayor Rogers, and the rest of the local Town of Chatham, Va employees that support you giving you a free ride. Earn your office or step aside. The people deserve to know where we stand. I am also surprised that our local newspaper has not asked or held a candidate forum in which they can write and also give their own readers more information on the stances of governments in which they write about.

Chris Wallace on Saturday said what many journalists, television viewers and probably the GOP candidates are thinking.
“It is ridiculous how many debates there have been–this is the nineteenth debate,” he said on the Mike Gallagher Show, referring to Thursday night’s Republican debate. “It is insane that there have been nineteen debates!”
Wallace, who himself moderated two debates, pointed out that it has become difficult for hosts to come up with fresh questions.
“They’re all stupid,” he said, arguing that viewers aren’t watching to learn about the issues. “It’s like you’re tuning in to a car race, you really want to see if there’s a wreck.”
Merle T. Rutledge Jr responds by stating, “The debates are not stupid. Each of the candidates had a choice to be in the debates or not. All that participated had a right not to participate. Their is nothing mandatory about being in debates to win elections ask Chatham, VA House rep Robert Hurt. It is so many debates because the debates have became great television and thanks to these very inspirational present and future SNL stars is the reason. Actually there has been more than 19 debates because some debates are not televised. It is sometimes called a forum, retreat, or conference that has been held by a cash friendly conservative and non conservative groups. It is just too much Burger King candidates and television shows. The slogan “Have it your way!” It would be nice to see someone run a traditional campaign but it is obvious that these Republican candidates only believe in traditional in the Burger King way. The debates are highly informative and has clearly let us know what a vote for one of these candidates actually means. We didn’t know about Scott Walker and the Ohio Governor overall plans until after they was voted into office. Maybe if they had 19 debates than it might have slipped and avoided a double dip recession in their own respective states and we definitely do not need the same outcome in our federal government. Imagine if we would have voted for Rick Perry without a debate. We would have never known that the 3am phone call might be answered by the drunk in the video that I have attached to my response!

I want Mitt Romney long form Birth Certificate just to make sure that he is a legal citizen and meet the requirements to be President of the United States of America. He just said his grandfather was from Mexico. If they want to use the same b.s against President Obama than I want them to go through the same scrutiny. It is only the Equal Protection Clause I’m addressing with you. Also, it might not be a bad idea to find a wacked out judge subpeona Mitt Romney and have him appear in court in order to answer to the claims. If anyone has a problem with anything mentioned in this blog than get off my President back. Maybe I should find some wacked out nut case judge to subpeona him into court to prove that he is a legal citizen born in the United States of America. I wouldn’t want his campaign covering up a conspiracy. LOL….. The shocking thing is I could be serious like the idiots in Georgia.

Open Letter to Republican Candidate Rick Santorum after S.C Debate 1/16/2012
Rick Santorum stated, “Martin Luther King Jr holiday is a important part of the African American community!” Did he forget that it was also white people, hispanic, and other ethnic groups that find this day as important. It seems like every drug dealer in your book is a African American or other ethnic group. It seems like you think every African American is on food stamps.
It seems as if African Americans had nothing to do with the wealth of their own kind as well as other ethnic groups including your own. It is shocking how a bunch of evangelicals got together to endorse your campaign based off your own views that go against the bible teaching. However, it was a old rumor or maybe even a fact that the bible was used to enforce and brainwash other ethnic groups into staying slaves instead of pursuing any form of freedom. I wouldn’t shake your hand if we was on the same stage or place.
I do not have a problem with white people or any other ethnic group, but however I do have a problem with individuals of all races that feel that their is a such thing as being superior to any all races. Rick Santorum fails to bring up the fact that it was government that was the first drug dealers and still are the only one giving drug dealers permits. How about you ask Rush Limbaugh about that? Their are pedophiles of many different races that pray on children for sexual deviances.
Do you tell parents or that child that even if they are raped or molested that they have to have that rapist child. A lot of pro life advocates have not been raped personally and the ones that have are not forced to register their names in a abortion registry. Im sure it would be more hyprocrits on that list than ever before in the history of the United States of America. Its one thing to be pro life and raise your own kids than to be pro life and allow a private or military school do the job for you.
I see all ethnic groups that have a problem with the high crime rate and increase in welfare benefits than job benefits because of the effects of a recession. However Rick Santorum fails to state that white people are also whom he is talking about that are low income. 32 percent of white people are on welfare and entitlement benefits such as food stamps. A number that far exceeds by double African Americans.
The problem with America is a American problem not a African American or any other ethnic group that isn’t white problem. We are in the same struggle together and the only person trying to divide classes is you and those that agree with you, because they are guilty by association.
Also, everyone in the Republican or Tea Party is not racist and actually have valid non discriminatory views on policy issues being passed by state and federal elected representatives. This election is not about running for the President of the United States of Rich America. It is called the office of President of United States which includes all Americans – rich and poor. This election is about providing a future for each and every man and woman.
This election is about moving America passed the hate and the income gap of struggling Americans compared to rich Americans. It is a sad day when fiction is becoming facts for you Rick Santorum. You are using too small of a sample to be representative of any population. Do you ever focus on how many low income people are not drug dealers or incarcerated. It is a far number out of jail than in a jail. Maybe Rick Santorum should do a real research study on issues that are effecting low income people and that is jobs and family not jail and bigotry. It is one thing to be Christain, but Im only asking you to honor what the Bible and Jesus says on paper and make it reality.
This phrase in the bible says it all, “We are all Gods children.” Did you forget that somewhere a long the line of saying which children really are the ones you consider family. You taketh family and won’t giveth qualified workers a job.

Rick Perry puts foot in mouth at S.C debate 1/16/2012 (Federal vs State) (Voter ID in S.C vs Virginia Ballot requirements)
Rick Perry stated that he supports the South Carolina voter I.D law in order to get votes from S.C Governor Haley endorsement. He was against the Obama Administration filing a lawsuit against the South Carolina because the voter i.d law unfairly restricts low income people in the state from voting due to its long standing history of discrimination against other ethnic groups other than white. However, Governor of Texas Rick Perry failed to state that he is personally going up against the Commonwealth of Virginia ballot voting requirements, which is a state rights law, with a lawsuit, which is a state in America, whom has state ballot requirement for candidates and voters, and all those trying to be listed on the Virginia ballot. Rick Perry accuses the federal government for getting involved in state affairs, but does not use the same harsh criticism, in his own pursuit, already being pushed in State of Virginia to have his name on the ballot. Does the Texas Governor think that the laws of Virginia and South Carolina, depending on which side of the issue that benefits himself personally is on, is allowed to have him intrude and infringe on state law since he is not a member of Federal Government. The problem really is that he is part of state Government and trying to intrude on another state government. Governor Perry should dismiss his lawsuit immediately against the Republican party and the Commonwealth of Virginia because his action is a direct attempt to restrict a state’s voting rights. Maybe Governor Perry should take his own advice at the South Carolina debate and practice what he preach. Governor Perry should just drop out of the race because he got a round of applause by being a hyprocrit or maybe some in the audience forgot Governor Perry pursuit against state rights in Virginia. Also Rick Perry isn’t the only one filing a lawsuit against another State at this level than shouldn’t states be worried about their intrusion at a Federal level.
